On The Overhead Bridge

I was crossing the overhead bridge to work when I found myself blocked by two boys. They both had their wallets out and were whispering intently to one another. One boy took some coins from his bright blue purse and put them in his friend’s palm. It was awkward of them to stop in the middle of the crowded passageway like that – maybe they were chipping in to buy something together.

To my surprise, I saw them turn around to a man sitting by the bridge. The man had a leg in a cast and was asking for alms. The boys slipped the money into the man’s hands before scurrying off.

They were little people with big hearts.
