Matthew 2:2 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
Herod the king was afraid. He imagined an earthly king arising to challenge his rule and dominion. The people were unsettled too…don’t we all feel the same way during the elections? What would become of us at the arrival of a new ruler?
But Jesus didn’t come to establish a Kingdom on earth like they thought.
John 18:36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
Jesus was a King, but He chose to be a Servant.
