What does church mean to you?

When I was 14, I was a gawky boy… Had a bunch of friends, but never really any I could fully trust or be myself with. Tried fitting in with the cool kids but was terrible at it – could never really dribble a ball or do a pull-up (you know, the stuff cool 14 year old kids did in the year 2000).

Starcraft. Warcraft. Art & craft. Nothing really filled the emptiness inside. Luckily, someone brought me to Heart of God Church.

I learnt in bible studies that the church is not a building, but the people. And I really like the people here. They are not just friendly, but friends. As time went on, I realised they are family.

Most importantly, it’s where I meet God. Life is far from perfect… But with God, it is always the best it could ever be. Hey, maybe I’m still gawky ten years on…but knowing God and the most amazing bunch of people has made all the difference in my life.

If you’ve read it this far, join me this weekend! Who knows… It could make all the difference for you too (:

The Pawn Shop

Isn’t it interesting, a pawn shop? A place where exchanges are made. In return for a precious jade bangle, I could get a little money. What are the exchanges we make in life today? Where are we putting our time and money?

The Pawn Shop
Took this picture of a rustic pawn shop during a morning run around the neighbourhood.
